Developed in The Hutch in August 2011, Sweetmud explores the internalization of prohibition, the exhilarations of transgression that mimic freedom, and a longing for identity and identification that is trapped between these two.
By harvesting evocative personal moments from my experiences as a British born Iranian girl who lost and found herself in rock ’n’ roll dreams, I propose to deliver a durational solo performance that sweeps sensual motifs of prohibition against fragmented songs of freedom.
It is due to be performed in 2nd October 2011 at the Basement Arts Project in South Leeds.
